Wet Rooms Cork

Level-access wet rooms and walk-in showers across Cork city and county, from €1,499. Built as a waterproofing system — falls, tanking and anti-slip tiling — not a tray dropped into a tiled room.

Cork City & Co. Cork

Three kinds of Cork house, three different builds

Period terraces on steep city streets, coastal homes exposed to salt air, and large suburban estates in Douglas, Ballincollig and Carrigaline.

Period terraces — Sunday's Well, St Luke's, Blackpool

Suspended timber floors and shallow joist depths. The fall has to be built into the floor with a former rather than screeded on top of it, and the structure gets checked before anything is cut. Steep streets and no off-street parking also decide how materials and waste move, which belongs in the programme, not in a surprise on day two.

Suburban estates — Douglas, Bishopstown, Ballincollig, Wilton

Concrete slabs downstairs and repeatable upstairs layouts. The falls can be screeded, drainage routes are usually short, and these are the rooms where a full rebuild runs closest to the guide sequence below.

Harbour side — Blackrock, Passage West, Carrigaline, Crosshaven

Salt air is hard on brassware, screen hardware and extraction fans. Coastal-rated fittings and extraction that actually clears the room are worth specifying at quote stage, because replacing pitted hardware later means disturbing sealed work.

Cork price bands

What a wet room costs, by how much of the room changes

Every figure below is a genuine minimum entry price for that scope, not an estimate for an unseen room. The band you land in is decided by the floor construction, the drainage route and the finish — the survey settles it, and the written quote confirms it.

WEPRO wet room price bands for Cork
ScopePriceWhat it covers
Shower area conversionFrom €1,499A level-access shower zone formed in an existing bathroom: former or screed falls, tanking, anti-slip tiling to the wet zone and a glass panel. The rest of the room stays as it is.
Full wet room, room rebuiltFrom €5,499The whole room stripped back, floor build-up and drainage reworked, full membrane tanking, floor-to-ceiling tiling, new sanitaryware, screen and lighting.
Large or high-specification wet roomFrom €9,999Bigger footprints, linear channel drains, large-format porcelain, underfloor heating, frameless glass and feature stone or micro-cement finishes.
Tiling supplied separatelyFrom €34/m²Where another trade handles the first fix, WEPRO can price the tanking and tiling package on its own, measured per square metre of finished surface.

What most Cork wet rooms cost

€4,500–€10,800

Typical Irish market for the same conversion: €5,000–€12,000. Benchmarked 21 August 2026 against published Irish renovation cost guides; WEPRO prices 10% under that range.

The advertised ‘from’ price is the minimum for a small, straightforward scope. It is not a typical price for a full renovation. The final written quote depends on measurements, preparation, materials, access and the agreed specification.

How long it takes

5–7 working days, and the reason it takes that long

5–7 working days is WEPRO's confirmed programme for a standard bathroom, and a straightforward wet room follows the same sequence. It is not slow because of the labour — it is slow because waterproofing has to cure before anything goes on top of it. Damp, dated pipework or an awkward drainage route add days, and your dates are confirmed in the written scope before work starts.

Anyone offering a two-day wet room is skipping either the floor build-up or the tanking cure. Both show up later as a ceiling stain in the room below.

  1. Day 1

Protection, strip-out and disposal. Cork's period terraces usually reveal the real condition of the floor here rather than at survey.

  2. Days 1–2

First fix: drainage route, waste falls, pipework and the electrical scope handed to a registered contractor where required.

  3. Days 2–3

Floor build-up — a former and deck over suspended timber, or a screed to falls on a concrete slab.

  4. Days 3–4

Full membrane tanking to floor and wet-zone walls, corners and pipe penetrations sealed, then left to cure.

  5. Days 4–6

Anti-slip R10/R11 porcelain set out and laid, cuts worked around the drain, then grouting and sealing.

  6. Days 6–7

Glass, brassware and sanitaryware fitted, silicone, snag walk-through, clean-down and handover.

What the Cork wet room scope covers

The waterproofing system is the product. The tiles are what you see.

  • Level-access drainage — point gully or linear channel, set to the falls the room allows
  • Floor formers and decks over suspended timber floors; screeded falls on concrete
  • Full-system membrane tanking, not paint-on patches at the corners
  • Anti-slip R10/R11 porcelain to floors, with the wall tiling set out to match
  • Walk-in glass screens, frameless panels and low-profile thresholds
  • Underfloor heating and improved extraction where the room can take it
  • Grab rails and shower seats fixed to noggins rated to take load
  • Electrical and any gas work assigned to registered contractors where required

What Cork customers have said

Named Cork feedback from WEPRO bathroom, ensuite and tiling projects — the same crews and the same tanking and tiling standard a wet room is built to. Customer wording, corrected only for punctuation.

“Eoin here from Cork City. Bathroom sorted, looks grand. The lads were quick and didn’t leave a mess, which was nice. Cheers for the help.”

“Hi, it’s Sinead, the one with the awkward ensuite in Cork. Look, I wasn’t expecting much because the space is tiny, but honestly I nearly cried when I saw it. Your tiler is an artist, I swear — the way he cut around that weird alcove is insane. And the boys cleaned up every evening like they were never there. My mother-in-law was so impressed she asked for your number already. Sorry for all the panicked texts, by the way; I know I was a dose. But seriously, thank you so much. You made the whole thing so easy, and I adore my little bathroom now. I’ll send you pictures when the mirror is up.”

“WEPRO Renovations did our kitchen in Cork, and I have to say they were brilliant. No hidden costs, no messing about with time; the lads turned up every morning and just got on with it. The tiling is spot on, and they even fixed a wonky cabinet the previous crowd left. Delighted with the result. Five stars.”

“We had WEPRO do our bathroom and toilet in Cork. They were very tidy and very fast. The lads were so nice and polite. The price was fair. I would definitely tell my friends about them.”

These are bathroom and ensuite projects rather than wet rooms specifically. WEPRO does not relabel feedback to match a page: the nearest verified wet room review is from a cottage project in Killarney, and it is published on the Killarney wet rooms page.

Wet rooms in Cork — common questions

Most Cork wet room conversions land between €4,500 and €10,800, against a typical Irish market range of €5,000 to €12,000 for the same work. Entry prices start from €1,499 for a small, straightforward level-access shower conversion, €5,499 where the whole room is rebuilt and €9,999 for larger or high-specification rooms. The advertised ‘from’ price is the minimum for a small, straightforward scope. It is not a typical price for a full renovation. The final written quote depends on measurements, preparation, materials, access and the agreed specification.

Usually yes, and it is the most common job in Cork's period terraces. A proprietary former and deck is let into the joists to create the falls, the structure is checked before anything is cut, and the whole floor is tanked as a system. Where the joist depth or a structural issue rules that out, the survey says so before you commit rather than after strip-out.

5–7 working days is the confirmed WEPRO programme for a standard bathroom, and a straightforward wet room follows the same sequence — strip-out to handover, with the tanking cure and the grout setting the pace rather than the labour. Older Cork houses with damp, dated pipework or an awkward drainage route can add days. Your programme is confirmed in the written scope before work starts.

WEPRO works across Cork city and county — Douglas, Ballincollig, Carrigaline, Midleton, Glanmire, Bishopstown and the surrounding areas — with an established local team. Send the Eircode with your enquiry so parking and delivery access can be planned into the schedule.

Often, but check two things first: what the lease and the management company require for waterproofing and floor build-up, and whether the drainage can achieve the fall within the existing floor depth. Both are answered at survey, and both are cheaper to answer before the tiles are ordered.

It affects the metalwork more than the tiling. On the harbour side — Blackrock, Passage West, Monkstown, Crosshaven — specify brassware and screen hardware rated for coastal use, and keep extraction working: chrome that would last a decade inland pits faster in a room that never fully dries out.

A level-access wet room is standard adaptation work where it is reasonably necessary for a person with a disability, and the grant pays up to €40,000 depending on household income. The local authority decides — for Cork properties that is Cork City Council or Cork County Council. Our Kerry grant page sets out the income bands, the documents and the application route, which are the same nationally.

Yes — WEPRO is fully insured and provides a 10-year guarantee. Project-specific guarantee terms are included with the written quote.
