Cost Guide

Bathroom Renovation Cost Ireland 2026: €3,150–€19,800 by Scope

Published 26 June 2026 · WEPRO Renovations

Short answer: WEPRO bathroom work starts from €499 for a limited small-bathroom scope and rises through €1,499 for a small straightforward bathroom, €5,499 for a complete bathroom package and €9,999 for a luxury package. These are genuine minimum entry prices, not the typical price of a complete bathroom. Room size, plumbing changes, substrate condition, waterproofing, ventilation, electrical work, access, product choices and disposal all change the written quote.

National price ladder

ScopeMinimum advertised price
Small bathroom limited scopeFrom €499
Ensuite limited scopeFrom €999
Small straightforward bathroom scopeFrom €1,499
Complete bathroom packageFrom €5,499
Luxury bathroom packageFrom €9,999
Tiling supplied as its own packageFrom €34/m²

“From” means the lowest price for a small, straightforward version of that scope. It does not mean every project costs that amount, and it is not an estimate for an unseen room. The written quote confirms measurements, inclusions, preparation, materials and access for the actual property.

National averages, and where WEPRO sits

The ladder above is the entry point for each scope. This is what projects actually cost nationally, next to what other Irish renovation companies publish for the same work:

Level of workWEPRO typicalTypical Irish market
Small bathroom refresh, layout kept€3,150–€5,400€3,500–€6,000
Standard mid-specification full refit€5,850–€10,800€6,500–€12,000
Large, high-specification or layout change€10,800–€19,800€12,000–€22,000
Wet room conversion€4,500–€10,800€5,000–€12,000

Market figures are the published 2026 ranges from Irish renovation cost guides, checked 21 August 2026. WEPRO's published range sits 10% under the market range for the same scope. Dublin runs roughly 10–15% above the national average; the rest of the country runs below it.

Cost guides by region

The bands above are national. What differs by area is the housing stock, the access and what strip-out tends to expose — which is why each region has its own guide rather than a single national number:

Prefer a fixed number before a survey? The fixed-price bathroom packages page sets out three scopes with a price, a duration and a written list of exclusions on each.

How long it takes

A standard bathroom renovation is 5–7 working days with WEPRO — strip-out to handover, with waterproofing cure times rather than labour setting the pace. Larger rooms, wet rooms, layout changes and anything found after strip-out take longer, and the dates are fixed in the written scope before work starts. Treat any quote promising a finished bathroom in two days as a quote that has left something out.

Build a useful planning budget

Before requesting quotes, write down the same brief for every contractor:

  • Room dimensions and photographs
  • Which fittings stay in the same position
  • Products you will supply and products the contractor should supply
  • Tiling extent, tile size and finish
  • Ventilation, heating and lighting changes
  • Access, parking and disposal constraints
  • Any known damp, leaks, uneven floors or outdated services

Ask at least three suitable contractors to price the same brief. A low number is not comparable if it excludes preparation, disposal, regulated work or products included elsewhere.

What affects the cost

  • Size and layout — bigger rooms need more tiling, materials and labour; moving the toilet, bath or shower adds plumbing work.
  • Materials — tiles range from budget ceramic to large-format porcelain and natural stone; sanitaryware and brassware vary enormously.
  • Condition — older Irish homes often hide dated pipework, rot or uneven floors that need fixing first.
  • Waterproofing — proper tanking costs more upfront but is non-negotiable for a bathroom that lasts.
  • Regulated work — the quote should identify who is responsible for electrical or gas work and any applicable completion documents.

A rough cost breakdown

Ask for these headings to be separated where practical:

  • Survey, design and project management
  • Protection, strip-out and disposal
  • Plumbing, electrical work and ventilation
  • Substrate repair and waterproofing
  • Tiling and finishing
  • Sanitaryware, brassware, screens and furniture
  • Painting, sealing, cleaning and handover

Wet rooms and accessible bathrooms

A wet room is a tanked, level-access bathroom without a conventional raised shower tray. Structural preparation, drainage falls and the waterproofing system can make its scope different from a tray installation.

If the project is about accessibility or mobility, the Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability pays up to €40,000, with the percentage of the approved cost decided by household income. It is administered by your local authority and must be approved before work starts — the grant bathrooms guide sets out the current income bands and the application route.

How to avoid hidden costs

  1. Ask for a written, itemised quote based on the measured room.
  2. Confirm whether waterproofing, regulated work and waste disposal are included.
  3. Agree all materials and a layout before work starts.
  4. Decide in writing how concealed defects or requested changes will be priced and approved.

Frequently asked questions

There is no single national average worth quoting, because a 2 m² cloakroom refresh and a 6 m² wet room are both “a bathroom”. What is real is the price ladder: WEPRO scopes start at €499 for a limited small-bathroom scope, €1,499 for a small straightforward bathroom, €5,499 for a complete bathroom package and €9,999 for a luxury package. The advertised ‘from’ price is the minimum for a small, straightforward scope. It is not a typical price for a full renovation. The final written quote depends on measurements, preparation, materials, access and the agreed specification.

Usually because they are not quoting the same job. Check whether each quote includes strip-out and disposal, substrate preparation, waterproofing, the electrical scope, making good and the products themselves. A number that excludes three of those is not cheaper — it is smaller.

It changes the inputs rather than the trade rates: travel and parking, waste-disposal routes, the age and construction of the housing stock, and how far materials have to come. That is why the regional guides linked above exist instead of one national number.

Agree in writing how concealed defects will be priced and approved before work starts, and keep a contingency for what strip-out exposes — rotten floors, failed waste connections, old wiring. The contingency is not part of the quote; it is your own planning buffer.
